BBQ Ground Beef Biftekia
with Tzatziki, Rice & Greek-Style Salad
In Greece, the word for burger is biftekia. The whole family can practice pronouncing it as you serve up a familiar dish with a slightly different spin. The ground beef gets a good dose of our herby Weekend on Mykonos seasoning, before browning on the barbecue for a charred aroma. Serve the patties with a classic assembly of cukes, tomatoes and crisp lettuce, along with warm rice and a swoosh of tzatziki.

Preparation

Cook the rice
Heat the BBQ on high, making sure to oil the grill first. In a medium pot, combine the rice, 2 ½ cups water, ⅓ of the spices and a big pinch of salt; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer, 17 to 20 min., until the rice is tender and the water has been absorbed. Remove from the heat and let sit, covered, for 5 min. Fluff the rice.

Prepare the biftekia
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the beef, remaining spices and S&P. Form into 4 patties.

Grill the biftekia
Reduce the BBQ heat to medium-high. Add the biftekia* to the BBQ (or to a grill pan heated with a drizzle of oil on medium-high) and grill, 3 to 5 min. per side, until cooked through.

Make the salad
Meanwhile, roughly chop the lettuce. Thinly slice the cucumbers. Medium-dice the tomatoes. In a second large bowl, combine the vinegar, 1 tbsp of the tzatziki and 2 tbsp oil. Add the lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and S&P; toss well.

Plate your dish
Spread the remaining tzatziki out in a circular motion along the side of your plates. Top with the rice, biftekia and salad. Bon appétit!
*Health Canada recommends cooking ground beef to a minimum internal temperature of 71°C.
